The Desert Suite is a series of five movements for unaccompanied snare drum that allows the performer the chance to express themselves musically at diploma level. The suite has been performed and accepted at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. The five movements incorporate different sounds, sticks, musical styles and even a cadenza for you to develop yourself.

The five movements are as follows:

1. Dawn - representing the sunrise in sound tones

2. Drought - representing the power of the sun

3. Sandstorm - representing sand movements against differing wind strengths
(the end of the movement allows the performer to improvise the sandstorm)

4. Burning Mirage - the use of brushes, rim shots and rim clicks help develop the crackling and popping of fire

5. Dusk - the entire movement is based around African rhythms
